MORE THAN TWO CENTURIES OF HISTORY
The Bank of Spain's history dates back to June 2, 1782, by founding the National Bank of San Carlos. In 1829, he created the English Bank of San Fernando, which merged with Banco de Isabel II in 1847.
The English Bank of San Fernando is renaming the Bank of Spain in 1856. THE BANK OF SPAIN AND THE EUROSYSTEM
The January 1, 1999, the Bank of Spain, together with the central banks of EU Member States that adopted the single currency, transfer its responsibility for monetary policy to the Eurosystem monetary authority of the euro area. Monetary policy decisions begin to be together in the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB). THE BANK OF SPAIN, THE BANKING SYSTEM SUPERVISOR
The Bank of Spain is the supervisor of the English banking system and, as such, ensures the solvency and compliance of banks and other institutions and markets under its supervision, develop standards, gathering information, analyzing data, making recommendations and taking corrective action or penalties, if necessary.

The Bank of Spain, in 1874 after being granted a monopoly on ticketing, begins to expand its branch network, which at that time was limited to Valencia and Alicante. In Valladolid, where there was no operating issuing bank, the Bank began operations in January 1875, settling in a rented house in the street of the Duque de la Victoria, n º 14.

in 1879 inaugurated a new building on property on the site of 1208 m2 purchased at City Hall, until then occupied by the municipal slaughterhouse. In this place is the building of the Bank of Spain until 1954 was demolished to build on the same site the present building, now Plaza of Spain, No. 15.

The current building of the Branch Bank of Spain in Valladolid is built between 1955 and 1958 by the architect D. Bank Romualdo de Madariaga and Cespedes. Part of the area is to land on Esgueva River, diverted into the twentieth century, the area became the center of the city.
